All works in this series are one-of-a-kind pieces physically made on canvas, paper or cardboard using mixed media. (Acrylic, Enamel, Oil).

“What I do is assemble, disassemble and reassemble images, fixing a moment in history, a memory in motion; often it is a damaged file, a medium that is missing information.

My artistic research focuses on the manipulation of images to capture, through painting, moments and memories in an ever-changing context. The result is often a damaged file, whose incompleteness emerges through the absence of harmonies, backgrounds and marks. The missing parts are gaps that leave room for interpretation, thus adding complexity to the work.

The Damaged Trails series represents a challenge that has led me to explore new ways of communicating through imperfection and incompleteness, encouraging the audience to actively participate in the construction of meaning. The missing information becomes an invitation to reflection and emotional participation, creating a dialogue between the work and the viewer.

The concept of a ‘damaged file’ is metaphorical for the fallacious and elusive nature of our memories and perceptions, which can be lost or distorted over time. This parallel emphasises the ephemerality of individual memory and its subjectivity, inviting people to explore their relationship with the past and their own experiences. The gaps in the works are like a mirror of our own jagged memories.

This series leads to reflection on complexity and lack of perfection, turning incompleteness into fertile ground for reflection and personal identification, the starting point for the birth of new images.

The “Ruins” series takes shape through different expressive mediums, including drawing, photography, sculpture, site-specific installations and video. The series explores the concepts of “survival” and “transformation” of human testimony through mechanisms and techniques of physical decomposition of matter and alteration of narrative time.

“Ruins” is a kind of anthropological research, made up of trajectories and connections between apparently distant worlds and times. Through the superimposition of images and matter, I have recreated a visual fabric that reflects the stratification of memories, where each discovery brings to light an organic and living mechanism, comprising individual signs and collective acts.

Physical decomposition refers to a process in which I act materially on printed or digitally projected images; this physical act creates fragments (electrons, light particles, photons) that are then reassembled through manual techniques (collage), through electronics (VHS, Magnetic Tapes), chemistry and physics (Photographic Print, Slides).

The physical dimension of light, fundamental in this process, adds further depth to the experience of the work. The lighting process represents the physical act of discovery, a ceremony, a symbol, a reflection on the sacredness of places that have survived and resurfaced from history and the unconscious. An attempt to classify reality and human experience’.

Technology is an essential part of my work. I use digital tools to explore new creative dimensions, be it editing software, artificial intelligence or other means that offer new artistic perspectives.

The ‘O.I.’ series represents the encounter between the human creative impulse and the calculated intervention of machines. Started in 2022 and now exclusively entrusted to the digital medium, the series explores the themes of genesis, transformation and memory through a multimedia and interdisciplinary approach, linked to the dialogue/interaction between the physical expressive sphere and the immaterial one of A.I.

Artificial intelligence offers new ways of interpreting and generating images, the connection between man and machine becomes a dialogue, a co-creation that enriches the artistic experience. On the one hand there is a passive and listening moment for the machine, on the other hand there is the continuous request for intervention and correction that forces us to make decisions, thus directly intervening in the method. Memory and learning go hand in hand in the development of the work.

Photographic memories, video and textual inputs represent the emotional and conceptual foundations of my work, they are part of the process of – neuronal plasticity – that we apply every time we try to remember or reconstruct an image. When they are incorporated into artificial intelligence, they become building blocks with which to construct new visual narratives. It is a process of reworking and reinterpretation that challenges and enriches the concept of memory itself.
