The work TRANCE originates from the manipulation and alteration of an initial reference image created manually on paper. The ‘embryonic’ image then passes through a complex process of disintegration and reconstruction, first photographic (chemical) and then digital (electronic). The photographed image is developed on slide film, projected, digitally photographed and then saved to a file. Subsequently the file, reconstructed with AI, is optimised in resolution, tone and colour.
In the following phase, I engaged in an interactive dialogue with the machine based on requesting the ‘repetition of elements’, with actions (prompting) or gestures of signs (interpretation), distributing them in the portions of the sheet deliberately left blank. This process is repeated a considerable number of times. The image sequences, in some cases, can be further modified by generating movements that become video-animations.
“TRANCE” is an abstract composition belonging to the “01 (Zero-One)” series and is characterised by a dense arrangement of organic shapes rendered in a vivid colour palette. The image is full of intertwined and overlapping elements, reminiscent of organisms or cells under a microscope. Each shape contains smaller versions of itself, creating a sense of echo in depth. The colour scheme is rich and varied, with shades ranging from deep greens and blues to fiery oranges and reds, as well as tones of pink, purple and turquoise. The colours are layered and mixed together, creating a sense of depth and movement within the image. The overall effect is one of controlled chaos, with the intricate patterns and shapes seeming to grow and spread in a dynamic and organic manner. Although digital in nature, the work has a textural and painterly quality that suggests the use of brushes or other digital tools to create marks and backgrounds.
The photographic memories, video and textual inputs represent the emotional and conceptual foundations of my work, they are part of the process of – neuronal plasticity – that we apply every time we try to remember or reconstruct an image, trying to sketch the inside and outside of a fragmented or dispersed memory.
