The work “Bosco Romagno” is named after the forest of the same name in Cividale del Friuli (UD), an authentic oasis of peace; nicknamed the “Green Lung of Friuli”, with its long paths, it is an ideal place to get lost in.
The procedure used to create the work highlights a tendency towards evolution, an instability inherent in everything that surrounds us as well as in our memory. This is why the artistic research focuses on the manipulation of images from these contexts, to capture moments and memories.
The starting photographic image of Bosco Romagno was composed, decomposed and recomposed, thus fixing a moment in history, a memory in motion, a piece of information that is travelling. The subsequent processing through painting is the final attempt to crystallise the instant, but the result is a damaged, incomplete file, as is the memory.
“Bosco Romagno” is one of the stages of “Damaged Trails“, a journey through the places of memory, by its very nature imperfect and elusive, like a damaged file, with missing parts and gaps that leave room for interpretation. Here too, the feeling of incompleteness is accentuated by the sign that, although simultaneous with the colour, flows on different planes, above and below, layered, trying to reconstruct and trace a path without ever managing to define the contours of recognisable figures.
